About Brand
Erstwhile, as a brand, is deeply rooted in a passion for vintage treasures, art, and design. This passion was ignited during countless explorations in antique stores and vintage shops, where the founders discovered a love for old wall charts. Their mission began with the intent to fill a gap in the market for high-quality, well-preserved wall charts at reasonable prices.
Dirk Paetzold, the Creative Director, with his background in graphic design, plays a pivotal role in shaping what Erstwhile stands for. The brand's focus extends to preserving the beauty of imperfection and decay that accompanies age and use, and it leads the industry in large-scale reproductions of wood-mounted vintage maps, botanical, and zoological charts. Their dedication to republishing unique pieces involves extensive searches through libraries, archives, and antique stores globally.
